Switch in "ON" position

Switch in "OFF" position

Here is the issue I have with the kill switch. As I see it the top two poles are for power in and power out. The third pole is a ground. So with the switch in the off position, the power is run straight to ground.

Why isn't this like a short,? Won't this smoke the fuse and/or the wires running to the switch? I can see it working on a single cylinder bike with one coil if I put it after the coil, but I'm not sure how to wire it to ground out two coils. I may search for another solution.

Last question about this. I see no good way to attach wires to the switch! These pictures aren't great, but it seems the intention would be to run the wires in from the bottom. The insulation would fit into the lower part of the posts, and the bare wire run up through the smaller upper part of the posts, but there's nothing to keep it all in place? Sure I could solder it, but that seems a little permanent compared to all the other connections that use bullets or blades, etc.

09/01/05 Nevermind. I've convinced myself this is for a bike with a single coil and have gone with a modern switch. Now I just need to buy a bike this switch will fit on.
